Should i have facebook?

i really want facebook cos i think its really fun, but i only have two friends who i still hang with sometimes, and both don't have facebook, because one doesn't have the internet, and the other thinks its evil (LOL). Pretty much everybody i went to school with (i'm 25, and have been to 4 schools in my life) have facebook, but i don't want to have them as my facebook friends because pretty much all of them or their friends bullied me, and i don't want that negativity and them back in my life after all those years of trying to avoid them and stuff. So with facebook, is it normal to add people you don't even know? Do strangers still write on your wall and stuff? I'd look pretty pathetic with a facebook account and no friends, or a facebook with friends who write on my wall saying, 'who the hell are you'?. Any advice in what i should do? I was thinking of just adding famous people to my facebook account, or hide the friend status, or something. In a way i want ALOT of friends on facebook, just so when somebody who thought i was destined to be a nobody and alone for forever could search for me and see all these so called friends of mine, and think, wow shes popular. LOL. Its all about paying those bullies back.
